What was your last vacation like?

Imagine yourself arriving around midnight in a foreign country – alone with no guide book, no map and only to find the accommodation you booked in hurry prior to departure refuses to accept credit card payment.

Such was a situation I found myself few months ago when I landed in the “City of Seven Hills”.

It was an interesting discovery as I realized as much as I greatly appreciate the historical pieces I did not really enjoy my stay in rome, somehow I feel its overcrowded and well I don’t know – perhaps I am just a “paris person” because no matter how many times I’ve been in Paris – I still find it enchanting … something i just cant find that in rome.. I did my best trying to go off the usual touristy places, but no matter how much I try to get lost in the city.. I just don’t get the “vibes”…

As I thought perhaps my holiday in italy is destined simply for appreciating arts and history, the moment I stepped into Florence I fall in love with the city within few hours..





And the best part of unplanned holidays, not knowing where is the next destination is always discovering new places ( or places I never heard of) .. I was lucky that I stumbled upon Lucca – a city in the Tuscany region, famous for famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls. I find the experience of walking on the walls and looking “into” the city was unique… well, so far I still don’t know a city which has such intact city walls…






Cinque terre, is another absolutely breathtaking place – it’s a beautiful coastline that connects 5 villages. A hike along the rugged steep terraces winding thru olive orchards and vineyards overlooking the sea simply amazing and to add the charm, is those small villages which seem to be oblivious to modern development..






I do not know which is more amazing during this vacation – watching the clear blue sea from the top of the hills or seeing david in real life – feeling that a lifetime of reading about him is still insufficient to prepare myself “meeting” him in person…
