What animals have made a difference in your life?

iguana. it reminds me of ancient life... a passage from LOTR about Tom Bombadil comes to mind everytime i see an iguana....

Eldest, that's what I am. Mark my words, my friends: Tom was here before the river and the trees; Tom remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn. He made paths before the Big People, and saw the little People arriving. He was here before the Kings and the graves and the Barrow-wights. When the Elves passed westward, Tom was here already, before the seas were bent. He knew the dark under the stars when it was fearless - before the Dark Lord came from Outside.

If you were a color, what would you be?

a rainbow day. morning i was on orange with all the adrenalin rush; afternoon i  was a cool smart green, night - bright red who almost had a breakdown due to being tailed by a stranger. The red was bright enough to signal request for help that two good souls came to rescue and now am the unknown black lost in the  abysses of time....

Where is your name from?

Posted on Mar 4th, 2009 by Principessa : Gaia Child Principessa
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 04, 2009:

my name literally means princess. imagine having people calling you princess on a daily basis...  thankfully almost no one knew the meaning  therefore I am saved from the embarassment..

my dad apparently gave me the name for the reason he wants his child's name to be something easy to be remembered. I must say my dad's objective was met. i've never really liked my name when i was growing up... always wished i can have a beautiful name as my sister...

but as everything else in life, i learnt to grow with my name and feeling it is indeed a nice name...

How does your mind relate to your body?

Posted on Mar 5th, 2009 by Principessa : Gaia Child Principessa
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 05, 2009:

my first encounter about relationship between mind and body took place when i was 12.  As a child,  I witnessed my father, who almost lost his life recovering slowly... i wondered how much pain my father is enduring, how long he can endure such amount of pain... but somehow it never cross my mind why he fights on. letting go might be an easier option...

actually father never fully recovered, two decades later i still feel my tears welling up when i watch him walk... every inch of movement seemed to pain him... its almost impossible for him to let alone live, but here is a man who is living a life which awes many.

physical imperfection had never seem to stop him from raising his children successfully. In the age where we witness able bodied shying away from basic responsibility, father in his condition stretched his reach towards others. many perhaps hundred has benefitted directly or indirectly thru his generosity.

being with him, one learns that physical health should never be taken for granted, however if you happen to be around him, in a matter of few minutes, you will instantly notice that physical body is merely a shell. To define life, to be able to feel you lived - one needs more than that and that is mind. A mind which is strong, a mind that is full with good thoughts and a mind that is selfless.

What were you doing one year ago today?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 16, 2009:

Kandyan_mask

this one year has been the most crucial part of my life as i finally decided what i want for the rest of my life. Exactly a year before, i was in the magical land known as ceylon having no clue what i want to do the rest of my life....looking back, i cant say exactly how the trip helped me.

was it the journey climbing the adam's peak? watching the old and the young as young as infant  climbing 2243m in the cold; armed with nothing except faith... where strangers lend a hand to another stanger bound by one thing - faith. I've heard about faith.. but here i witness how faith brings together human kind...here is where i realized that togetherness is possible after all. for this is perhaps the only pilgrimage site that all four religion in the world (buddhist, hindu, christian and islam) held scared ( without fighting for it)

or exploring the ancient ruins of sigiriya pondering how on earth human kind can build such a giant fortress? the signature lion which do not exist anymore seem to whisper that nothing is imposible if you wish for it.

or perhaps knowing that after a couple of hours i left dambulla cave temple, a blast killed a number of people...a great reminder how short life can be.

or perhaps finding myself back within the sacred walls of the temple of tooth seeking for shelter, truth and answers to my question only to know later that it lies within my ownself...
