What would you most like to teach?

Posted on Oct 27th, 2009 by Principessa : Gaia Explorer Principessa
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 27, 2009:

I think often times we want to teach what we love most. Me - I love animals. May be a little more than what should be a healthy dose.

As any other kids; ive had my share of rescuing puppies and kittens when I was a kid.. Using my pocket money to kip them fed.. waiting for the school bell to ring so I can go back to them.. Or tracking them down when they go missing ( so I thot - not knowing cats especially tend to move their kittens around a lot).

Puppies and kittens aside, Ive I had not so common pets .... Ive kept a baby bat for a day, spending the spend the whole day just staring into his eyes because it was so red. I brought home tadpoles thinking they are fish. I tried breeding ladybirds in my precious jewellery casing thinking they need the best, not knowing keeping them in a case is wrong. I will wake up early to rescue the snails in the garden before my grandfather finds them...not without wondering why they keep coming back here.

Till today, ants reminds me of those funny little stories my dad will make up when we lie down watching them together... praying mantis reminds of a lil game called "truth time" we used to play ..

I remember how tiny are baby rats and marvel how do they survive.. Ive spend hours figuring what a lizard on the wall will do next... the list goes on and on - iguana, fishes, terrapins, rabbits, hamsters...I even found cockroaches interesting ( which my friends think just weird).

They are the best playmates I ever had. My best childhood memories are build around them... I think they taught me compassion, love and loyalty... and I always wish I can teach and share the joy of being around them this with others....
