What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 02, 2008:
i had one glance at the responses and noticed almost everyone agree knowledge is aquired via reading or rather formal channel while wisdom is experience..... recently i decided to pursue my post graduate study ..something i avoided over the last 8 years... reason being purely because as much as i have the knowledge back then i felt am not wise... not many people who excel academically may not want to admit but the fact remains that knowledge alone is not sufficient. in fact many times, it will fail you to see the practical aspect of life.....it is simply difficult to be wiser via knowledge alone... .
