Do you believe in the evolution of human consciousness?

By right there should be evolution in terms of human consciousness as the time ticks....Evolution usually results in a stronger species; in the case of consciousness i will assume it means the human consciousness getting deeper, and better. 
 
However, personally I feel instead of evolution what is happening in terms of human consciousness is shiftment or variation... unlike previously where what we notice are similarity, in this age there are more people whose level of human consciousness becomes worse ..thanks to the rat race and importance attached to material gains. And as usual we witness the opposite who consciously seek for deeper answer and truth for reason only known to them - and in some ways this is contributed by higher level of literacy, better communication which promotes sharing of ideas etc...

All these are also of course subjected to development of the nation as well. A person from developing country has an opportunity to witness different aspect of human consciousness while a person from undeveloped country may witness a different level...

for an example in my hometown; a small town people help each other and work together as a community; while here in my own home; i dont even know my neighbors... and as i travel the I always notice how people in certain places dont even know or question about consciousness yet they are the nicest people you meet... as we say " simplicity is the best"...

while in the part of  world i live in we constantly question, argue and discuss whats is right and wrong.. and many of us I must say to their credit make an effort to do what is right yet i find something is missing... not sure what exactly....
